CHP – what it is/benefits/how it works
What is Combined Heat and Power?
Combined heat and power (CHP) converts a single fuel into both electricity and heat in a single process at the point of use. CHP is highly energy efficient and as well as supplying heat and power, it can deliver a number of positive financial, operational and environmental benefits. CHP is a
CHP is a well-proven technology recognized worldwide as a viable alternative to traditional centralized generation.
The technology is ideal for applications with consistent demands for thermal energy and electricity.
Micro Cogeneration
Many organizations are looking for environmentally friendly systems to supply their building energy needs. Micro cogeneration (µCHP) technology converts natural gas into both electricity and heat in a single process onsite. The natural gas fuel is more beneficial to the environment as the emissions are comparatively smaller. While the typical efficiency of central generation is around 35%, µCHP is more than twice as efficient and can achieve efficiency up to 85% (see diagram below).
